Our Doctors

Dr. C Rogers Williams

VMD

Dr. Williams was born in central rural New Jersey, and spent summers on Cape Cod with his family.  Animals were always important to him.  After high school he competed an undergraduate biology program from Georgetown University.  After a quick stop doing Kit Fox (think small dog with huge ears) research for the Smithsonian Institution in the California Desert, he was admitted to the Veterinary Program at the University of Pennsylvania.  After graduation Dr. Williams worked in a multi doctor practice in Pennsylvania before joining the Vineyard Veterinary Clinic as an associate veterinarian.  He took a break from the island to complete an internship in Aquatic Animal and Marine Mammal medicine at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, where he met his wife to be, Dr. Bridget Dunnigan.  He returned to the island, now as owner of the Vineyard Veterinary Clinic in 1997 where he has been ever since.  In his spare time, he worked as the attending veterinarian at the National Marine Life Center for 20 years, overseeing the care of stranded seals and endangered sea turtles.  Dr. Williams is the author of a few publications, and he enjoys birding, SCUBA, hiking with their two dogs (Doki and Poncho), exercising, and being outside.  His clinical interests include companion animal dental oral surgery, infectious disease, and primary care practice.

Dr. Bridget Dunnigan

MS, DVM

Dr. Bridget Dunnigan has been with the Vineyard Veterinary Clinic since 1998.  Prior to moving to Martha’s Vineyard, she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior with a Minor in Fisheries and Wildlife at the University of Minnesota, her Master of Science degree in Zoology at Arizona State University, and then her Doctorate of Veterinary Medication degree at the University of Minnesota.  After which, Dr. Dunnigan completed an exotic animal internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in conjunction with the New England Aquarium and Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, Massachusetts.  Outside of the veterinary clinic, along with her husband Dr. C. Rogers Williams, Dr. Dunnigan enjoys birdwatching both locally and internationally; hiking with their two dogs they loving classified as ‘chupermutts’; yoga; scuba; and working on house-hold projects.

Dr. Amy DeLisle

DVM

Dr. Amy DeLisle brings a unique blend of clinical experience, teaching, and global perspective to Vineyard Veterinary Clinic. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from St. George’s University, completing her final clinical year at University College Dublin in Ireland. Her academic background also includes a Master of Education in Agricultural Education, along with degrees in Veterinary Technology and Classical Languages.

Dr. DeLisle has practiced veterinary medicine in a wide variety of settings, including Grenada, Hawaii, Ireland, Germany, and across the United States. Her career has included roles in small animal general practice, relief work, and service as a civilian veterinary medical officer for the U.S. Army while stationed in Germany with her airman husband Jeff, an intel analyst in the Air Force. She also spent several years in academia as Program Director of Veterinary Nursing at Texas A&M University–Commerce, where she developed and led a Bachelor’s degree program in Veterinary Biomedical Technology.

In clinical practice, Dr. DeLisle enjoys the variety that general practice offers and is particularly interested in dentistry, dermatology, and parasitology. While she cares for all companion animals, she has a special passion for feline medicine and is continuing to expand her knowledge and skills in exotic animal care. She values building strong, lasting relationships with her clients and believes in collaborative, compassionate care.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. DeLisle enjoys spending time with her husband, Jeff, and their two young daughters, Aurora and Nova. Their family includes two fluffy, mischievous, and handsome cats, Perseus and Orion. She and her family love life on Martha’s Vineyard and embrace everything the island has to offer—from beach days and fishing to hiking, treasure hunting along the shore, and watching sunsets. Her favorite place in the world is her family’s gingerbread cottage, where summer is truly her happiest season.

Dr. DeLisle moved her family here from Dallas, Texas to help address the shortage of vet care on the island. She is proud to be part of the Vineyard community and enjoys connecting with local families through both her work and involvement in the island’s veterinary community. She looks forward to caring for your pets as if they were her own.
